What Went Wrong?

The Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP) Electronic Poster Making Contest is now on its 3rd year. It's a 2-hour photoediting contest with the use of Adobe Photoshop.

Based on the contest template, the contestant will design an electronic poster using adobe photoshop, using a number of images in jpeg format provided by the contest administrator.

For the past two years, the contest was administered and the outputs were judged as indicated in the contest template but not until the recent national competitions in Baguio City, February 18-22, 2011.

What went wrong? The output of the announced champion did not include the four images or even part of the images given during the contest. When you view the outputs one by one, you will find out that the given images were used except in the 1st place poster. The given images were one bottled water, STEP tarp, CSCA logo and a texting hand.

The images given in the national level are not the typical skill images. The concept is to challenge the contestants' creativity and photoediting skill in creating STEP posters out of the given unusual images. According to sir Owen, one of the judges, "It's like extracting gold out of the garbage."

So what went wrong? I really can't tell, but I'm definitely sure that something went wrong!

I also want to make it clear that I have nothing against the coach and the contestant of the poster above. Congratulations to them for being the champion. The coach trained the contestant well and the contestant did really well during the contest.

But again, what went wrong? Where did the given images go?

Below are other outputs displaying/using the given images.
